APOGEE 2022 Professional Development Event
2022 APOGEE: DEFYING GRAVITY
Leadership Marion has brought leadership conferences to Southern Illinois since 2017. After several events in partnership with John Maxwell, Leadership Marion is excited to present our annual event this fall. Featuring regional speakers and talent, this event is designed to mentor and expand the roles of leaders in our community.
APOGEE is a reflection of the innovative, imaginative, and resourceful members of our region. In the quest to reach our goals, we use lessons and skills to reach new heights and provide new opportunities for those around us. This APOGEE of learning and leadership changes with every skill learned, challenge faced, work partnership formed, and goal achieved. These skills continue to evolve and shape who we are and the work community we want to be a part of – just in time to reach for the next goal.
We presented this year’s event on November 17th at the Pavilion. The goals of this year’s conference, APOGEE: Defying Gravity, was to to focus on the challenging conversations facing our leaders and build new connections within the business community.

Spotlight Speaker: Tim Miles
About Tim: As a fearful, freshman farm boy at the University of Illinois, our presenter took his first public speaking course… and got a D. He got better.
Today, Tim Miles is widely considered one of the most engaging, entertaining, and enlightening presenters on the planet. His talks have taken him halfway around the world, but he always remembers there’s no place like home.
Tim found his in the early 90s right here—first at Southern Illinois University where he earned his Bachelor of Arts, and then through his work with what was then the Zimmer Radio Group. Tim Miles owns and operates an odd little consulting firm in Nashville with odd little (and not-so-little) clients scattered across North America who trust his wisdom, kindness, and passionate commitment to their growth.
He’s been called a mixture of Robin Williams and Mr. Rogers. He’s been called the Dave Ramsey of marketing and communication. And he’s been called back to Southern Illinois to share what he’s learned with you. He can’t wait to see you there.
Tim was unable to join us for the November 17th event, but will do another presentation in Spring 2023. APOGEE attendees are welcome to attend as part of their November event registration.
