Trade or Apprenticeship Scholarship
Scholarship Information
The Marion Chamber of Commerce Foundation understands that our workforce is made of experts and leaders from all different backgrounds and career goals. We are excited to support our ‘trades-based’ employers and want to support those entering these fields. The Trades Scholarship is for $1000 towards course certifications, association fees, books, PPE, tools, and equipment. We will be giving out two scholarships for those entering the trades within a year of the scholarship application.
Requirements
A completed Application Packet, which includes:
- Print out of the scholarship submission confirmation email. Make sure it includes:
- Signature of a parent and Guardian for those under 18. – Signature line will be in confirmation email.
- Signature of a Marion Chamber of Commerce Member, signed by a member in good standing. (Visit marionillinois.com for a member directory) – Signature line will be in confirmation email.
- Official High School Transcript, including GPA from Marion High School.
- Acceptance into a skilled trade program
- A Letter of Recommendation from a teacher, counselor, coach, or employer, who is not related to the applicant.
Disbursement
For Trade/Union Applications: Scholarship funds will be dispersed once the student has been officially accepted into the program. Due to the different timelines for trade/union application processes, scholarships will be honored for 1 year after they are awarded. Proof of acceptance must be provided to the Marion Chamber.
For College/University Based programs: Scholarship funds will be awarded when the recipient has successfully registered for classes at selected institution. Proof of registration must be dropped off to the Marion Chamber of Commerce office at 2305 West Main St. in Marion. The scholarship payment is made directly to selected institution.
