December Luncheon Summary

 

The December 12th Membership luncheon hosted over 150 people at the Pavilion in Marion. Marion Chamber Board chair Michelle Hamilton welcomed the attendees and Pastor John Holst provided the invocation. Luncheon sponsors, Campbell Insurance Group, was represented by Julie Campbell.

Recent Projects

We would like to thank everyone who took part in this year’s Board Elections. We are excited to announce the 2024 – 2026 Board Directors. For those at the luncheon, please stand: Julie Campbell, AnnaMarie Cook, Carl Lange, Sandra Mann, Cale Newlin, and Megan Zeller. As first and second alternates, Jason Powell and Reece Rutland will step onto the board to fulfill any board vacancies.


Would like to recognize the following individuals for their past service on the Board and we are excited to work with them in the years to come on Chamber programs.

Our new board members will begin their service at our Annual Banquet and awards ceremony. This year’s event will be on January 19th at the Pavilion. Ticket reservations are available now with formal invitations going out this week. Please join us for a great night of networking, food, and fun while we honor this year’s award honorees and nominees. Like last month, we would like to recognize some of this year’s award nominees and honorees. Please stand as your name is called or raise your hand if you are part of a group that is being honored/recognized.


  • Our Distinguished Business award recognizes a business that has given significant service to the Marion Chamber of Commerce and its mission. This year’s nominees are: James Arthur Design Co., Men in White, and SIU Credit Union. Learn more about this year's nominees.
  • The Distinguished Member award honors a Chamber member who has given significant service to the Marion Chamber of Commerce and its mission. This person demonstrates personal and professional leadership in the community. This year’s nominees are TJ Cowan, Jeff Mayer, and Cheri Romonosky. Learn more about this year's nominees.

  • Centerstone Recovery Transitional Housing Ribbon Cutting is tomorrow,  Wednesday the 13th at 11:30 am.

Membership renewals went out yesterday, so please let the office know if you have any questions about your 2024 dues or would like to sit down and figure out your Chamber projects for the coming year. To help with that, with your dues statement is an online form with information about various Chamber programs, along with sponsorships and volunteer opportunities. Our members embody our mission, and we look forward to working with you on the next phase of our strategic plan. We have some new opportunities in the work you will be very excited about!

 

As we plan for next year, we wanted to spotlight a couple of popular opportunities.

  • In further preparation for the event, we are planning to have our next community guide available in March. We are planning for 5,000 issues with Ad space and directory listings available along with community resources and information. Reserve your space this month! Reservation Form
  • We have August through November open for luncheon sponsorship. We also have all eBlast quarters available. Please see the office to reserve your opportunity.

On Monday, February, members of the business community, civic leaders, and staff of Rachael Academy of Education gathered to celebrate the opening of their new facility in Marion. Ribbon Cutting guests were greeted by Chamber Board Chair Deborah Hogg. Mayor Michael Absher spoke about need in this area for additional educational and behavioral resources. Mary Anderson, Directory of the academy, and Nathan thanked their staff, interns, and community partners on their help to make this facility a reality.
